About Perfume Oils

What are oil perfumes (attar)?

Oil perfumes, also known as attars, are fragrances presented in an oil base rather than alcohol. These perfumes have a thicker and oilier texture, which allows for a slower and more gradual release of aromatic notes.

What are the benefits of oil perfumes?

  • Prolonged duration: Due to their oil base, the scent adheres to the skin and is released gradually, ensuring that the perfume lasts longer.
  • Personalized scent: They blend with the natural oils of the skin, creating a unique and personal fragrance.
  • Subtlety: They produce a scent closer to the body, ideal for situations where a soft and elegant impression is desired.
  • Portability: The bottles are usually compact and spill-resistant, perfect for carrying in a purse or pocket.

Why are they so popular in the East?

  • Religious and Cultural Significance: In many Eastern cultures, especially in the Islamic world, attars have profound religious and cultural significance. They are used in religious rituals and ceremonies and are considered a form of purification and respect.
  • Alcohol-Free: Attars are 100% alcohol-free, making them suitable for use in communities where alcohol is prohibited for religious reasons.
  • Therapeutic Properties: In addition to their use as a fragrance, attars are valued for their therapeutic properties. They are believed to have beneficial effects on health, such as relieving anxiety, depression, and insomnia.
  • Longevity and Potency: Attars are known for their longevity and potency. A small amount can last a long time, making them highly appreciated.
  • Tradition and Heritage: The production of attar has a long history in regions like India and the Middle East. This tradition has been passed down through generations, preserving ancient techniques and recipes.

How to apply oil perfumes?

Our bottles are equipped with roll-on technology (with a roller applicator), allowing you to apply oil perfumes comfortably and precisely.

We recommend applying them to the following areas:

  • Wrists: A classic spot. Your arms are constantly moving, creating a dynamic effect with your fragrance.
  • Behind the ears/Neck: Applying behind the ears allows the oil to diffuse as you move.
  • Collarbones: An excellent spot for creating a sense of intimacy.
  • Inner elbows: Helps slightly soften the scent in the folds of your arms, perfect for longer-lasting diffusion. A great pulse point for work if you need to wash your hands frequently.
  • Behind the knees: Allows the fragrance to rise throughout the day. The back of the knees is warmer and softer, aiding in the projection of the scent. This area is perfect for summer, emitting your preferred fragrance with each crossing and uncrossing of your legs.

We recommend using a small amount, as oil perfumes are more concentrated than alcohol-based perfumes. A few drops are usually enough.

Once you've decided which pulse points to use, simply remove the cap, invert the bottle, and gently rub it back and forth on your skin.
